The current system caps the costs charged between EU and UK phone operators, letting them pass on the savings to customers. But the Mobile Roaming (EU Exit) Regulations admit these caps will have no legal force if there is no Brexit deal. That means phone giants could see their wholesale costs spiral, making roaming packages unaffordable and forcing them to push up costs, the government warns.
