Petrol prices continue to climb past the £2.00 per litre mark for both petrol and diesel.
Shoppers filling up at petrol stations after the weekly shop have quipped 'If this continues it soon will be like filling up your with extra virgin olive oil'.
Yet there seems no near relief from it, neither the goverment announcing a reduction or at least a price freeze. Light car users are advised to take to foot and transport to keep the cost of filling up the car cutting heavily into the monthly expense.
Despite roadusers paying through the nose on petrol prices, government figures reveal that traffic has only reduced by 2% meaning change is not noticeable by road users across the nation.
This also means that car owners are definitely forgoing other household / non household expenses just to keep the car running.
Otherwise there would be more drivers priced off at the tap and then subsequently off the road.
According to the BBC traffic research, drivers are thinking twice about using their cars due to ridiculously high petrol prices. A survey by the AA across 17,500 of its members found that 26% had cut back on other areas of spending, 17% had cut back on using their car and over 20% of them had done both. But still this is yet to reflect on actual road useage
